How often do you disagree with what the critics have to say? Those hoighty-toighty, high-falutin', too-cool-for-school know-it-alls, who think, just because they've studied film, that they can tell the rest of us what to think about a movie? What about Rotten Tomatoes? Ever spat your morning coffee over your keyboard in shock at the score for the latest Michael Bay masterpiece?
Well, okay, that last part is a stretch, but Wayne and Paul most definitely are sick and tired of professional critics getting it wrong. And so this week on The Countdown, they're putting it right with their Top 10 Critically Panned Films That Were Actually Awesome (aka Go Blow, Critic!)
They also find the time to sneak in a review of the sneakily released The Cloverfield Paradox. Is this the future of film releases? Could theatres soon be as dead as drive-ins? The boys give their thoughts and opine on whether Netflix wisely spent their money in acquiring this one ...
All this AND a very moving tribute by Paul to The Soundboard as The Countdown continues!

Then the guys take a few pokes at Gerard Butler's belly in the new thriller - Den of Thieves! Is it Sparta, or is it Farta? Find out when this week WITHOUT the help of The Soundboard, that very VERY suspiciously no longer works after Wayne was left alone with it for the past week...

Episode 148: Top 10 Movie Opening Scenes / mother!
Tuesday Jan 30, 2018
Tuesday Jan 30, 2018
This week the boys are STARTING something different by opening up a whole new can of BEGINNINGS with their Top 10 OPENING SCENES in film history! (Sorry, Wayne took the week off from writing the opening paragraph of the show notes, and this was the best Paul could do after a REALLY crappy day.) Which films grabbed them by the short and curlies right up front? And how many of those films were awesome versus straight up teases which promised so much and delivered so very little?
And as if that's not enough, the fellers found the time to squeeze in a requested review from listener Nick Spinarksi, one of the ultra-generous individuals who shells out his hard earned cash to listen to two grown men bust each others' balls as part of the show's Patreon page at https://www.patreon.com/thecountdown. That review is for the divisive mother! from Darren Aronofsky. Paul's feelings on this one are well know, but what did Wayne think after finally managing to watch it?
All this and more as The Countdown continues ...

It's time to get art-house up in here with Paul and Wayne!
Join the fellers for an achingly poignant yet somehow penis-joke-laden review of Guillermo del Toro's latest artistic offering, The Shape of Water. The boys also wax lyrical on their most anticipated releases this year before getting straight up nostalgic on the top ten hidden gems of the noughties! How many have you seen?
Then they peer into their crystal balls (no, it's not a testicle reference) and sound off on their most anticipated films of 2018.
You'll laugh at the wisecracking dumbasses, you'll cry at the petty infighting, and you'll pee at some stage during this episode because it's slightly longer than normal!

Episode 146: Top 10 "I'm Too Old for this S#*t" Films/ The Commuter
Tuesday Jan 16, 2018
Tuesday Jan 16, 2018
Do you ever wonder how Person A gets cast in a role they're clearly too old for? When they're rocking a zimmer frame, while their co-star is at least two decades too young to be doing THAT with them? Well Paul and Wayne do. And after subjecting themselves to Liam Neeson's latest efforts to defy the laws of ageing in The Commuter, they decided to dedicate an Ep to calling out those actors who were simply "Too old for this s#*t!"
*Cue the Lethal Weapon sax*
They also manage to find time to tackle Steven Seagal (again!), take some listener feedback, and derail their review by tossing jokes about the size of Liam Neeson's manhood at one another.
In other words, more of what you crave as The Countdown continues ...
