Episode 74: Top 10 Kickass Female TV Characters (w/ Brigit)
Tuesday Aug 30, 2016
Tuesday Aug 30, 2016

This week, domestic harmony gets put to the test, as Brigit returns to assist the guys in the Countdown set by listener Jarrod, the winner of the Word Salad Productions raffle for the month of July. He selected a Countdown of the Top 10 Kickass Female TV Characters, meaning Wayne and Brigit have ample ammunition with which to take aim at one another, while poor Paul can only watch on in equal amounts of horror and amusement. (Protip: Stick around for the almost 3 minutes of bloopers at the end of this Ep to hear more of what transpired between these two lovebirds.)
As if that weren't enough, there's also some intriguing news shared as part of Check It Out, the guys duke it out through Round 2 of new game, Tag Lines, and then there's the usual Recount and listener feedback segments.

Episode 73: Top 10 Films Set in the Past / Free State of Jones
Monday Aug 22, 2016
Monday Aug 22, 2016

In this week's episode, things start off innocently enough. The biographical drama, Free Sate of Jones gets a review, before a new segment called Tag Lines (based on an idea by listener Tim) is unveiled.
And then things go to hell in a handbasket.
Wayne decides to treat his list of the Top 10 Films Set Pre-20th Century (with thanks to listener Sam Loy @human_ordinary1 for the idea) as if it's nothing more important than ranking the episodes of The Big Bang Theory he has seen the most times. Paul, aghast, can barely contain his ire as Wayne tries to justify poor choice after questionable decision, before finally admitting this may not have been his finest hour.
Gasps are heard, swear words are uttered, and there is more shaking of the head than at a Metallica concert. All of this and listener contributions as The Countdown continues ...

Episode 72: Top 10 Ensemble Cast Films / Suicide Squad / Sausage Party
Monday Aug 15, 2016
Monday Aug 15, 2016

In an all-new packed show, Paul and Wayne review two very different films - the much-hyped next entry in the DCEU, Suicide Squad, and the world's first R-rated CG animated movie, Sausage Party. The reactions to the films are quite contrary, with the guys loving one and struggling to find much good to say about the other. And for the record, there are ZERO SPOILERS for Sausage Party, but the boys do talk Suicide Squad in detail.
And though it might seem a bit of a stretch, the one thing both of these new releases have in common, is their awesome ensemble casts. So in honour of this, the guys countdown their best ensemble cast films with some interesting choices popping up on both lists - and the usual paying out following on close behind ...

Episode 71: Top 10 Kurt Russell Films
Monday Aug 08, 2016
Monday Aug 08, 2016

After last week's no-holds barred sh*t fight, the boys this week bury the hatchet by turning their attention to a mutual love: Kurt Russell. They celebrate this amazing actor's career by counting down his best ever ten films, and are in almost complete agreement about what should make such a hallowed list. Listeners also play a HUGE part in this Ep as there was a mountain of feedback for this Kurt-based Ep.
Paul & Wayne also get stuck into a bit of Check it Out, and in this edition of Cool for Cast, turn their attention to re-casting James Cameron's 1986 classic sequel, Aliens.

Episode 70: Top 10 Chick Flicks (w/ Janelle)
Monday Aug 01, 2016
Monday Aug 01, 2016

This one is for the ladies!
Having been called out for being too "blokey" with their Countdowns, Paul and Wayne this week respond by welcoming guest host Janelle to educate them in the way of all-things Chick Flick! Of course, they attempt to put together Top 10s of their own, and well, let's just say Wayne accounted reasonably well for himself, but Paul's lists leave much to be desired. Janelle, however, schools the boys with some amazing choices from the days of yesteryear which should melt the heart of all fans of this genre.

Tuesday Jul 26, 2016

In this jam-packed, BUMPER of an episode, Wayne and Paul are thrilled to welcome Epic Film Guys Nick and Justin to help review Star Trek Beyond from new helmer, Justin Lin.
The four then get stuck into proclaiming the best films ever adapted from television. There is plenty of agreement between the gang, though the odd curly one is thrown in to help keep everyone on their toes. Of course, you can expect the usual laughs and cheap shots, but to mark this episode as extra special, Nick mentions Wayne's balls multiple times, Justin's Lisp makes a move on said balls, and Hobester Justin just wants a few bucks for some PBR and McDonalds.
All this will make some sense when you listen to the episode, though it will make MORE sense if you head on over to http://epicfilmguys.podbean.com/ and listen to the back catalogue of this awesome show! You can also catch Nick and Justin on Twitter @EpicFilmGuys and then show the guys some love by rating, subscribing and reviewing their amazing show at https://itunes.apple.com/au/podcast/epic-film-guys-podcast/id1027239734?mt=2

Episode 68: Top 10 Psychological Thrillers / Ghostbusters / Our Kind of Traitor
Tuesday Jul 19, 2016
Tuesday Jul 19, 2016

In this week's big episode, Wayne starts by offering his NON-SPOILER filled review of Ghostbusters to Paul, who has yet to see the much-discussed reboot. Then both buys settle in to review the latest John le Carré spy thriller, Our Kind of Traitor.
And then, because there's already been a Countdown concerning Spy films, Paul and Wayne branch out slightly to talk the best ever Psychological Thrillers. Rest assured, things remain relatively harmonious this Ep, almost as if the guys are still stinging from their back-and-forth last week...
In other exciting news, the Countdown is participating in a Word Salad Network fundraiser by raffling off a future episode. In short, the winner will get to pick the film or TV related topic for an episode that Paul and Wayne will do. So go to https://www.gofundme.com/wordsaladpro and donate $5 for one ticket into the draw, $6 for 2 tickets, $7 for 3, and so forth. The winner will be drawn on Aug 1st.

Episode 67: Top 10 One and Done Films
Monday Jul 11, 2016
Monday Jul 11, 2016

This week things get more than a little heated on what was meant to be a nice, straight forward countdown of the best standalone films, or as the guys chose to label it: One and Done films.
Everything moves nicely through the new Recount segment, before Wayne and Paul take a look at some news from the film world in Check It Out, and then review Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005) as Wayne's choice for Rewind, Be Kind. But then the countdown begins and within a few choices it becomes very clear the boys have thought about their criteria VERY differently ...
In other exciting news, the Countdown is participating in a Word Salad Netwok fundraiser by raffling off a future episode. In short, the winner will get to pick the film or TV related topic for an episode that Paul and Wayne will do. Episode 66: Game of Thrones S6 / Top 10 Last 10 #8
Tuesday Jul 05, 2016
Tuesday Jul 05, 2016

For the first time ever on The Countdown, Paul and Wayne go all crazy and cover both TV and movies in the same Ep?! They start with Wayne gushing all over the most recent season of Game of Thrones, while Paul offers a more critical perspective on the latest ten episodes of the smash-hit HBO series. Of course, this late in the game, there is no way to discuss the show without delving deeply into SPOILERS so steer clear of everything between 10:35 and 38:28 of this Ep if you've yet to see ALL of Season 6.
THEN the boys get down to business with 19 mini-reviews (one film makes both lists) in their Top 10 Last 10 Countdown. With thanks to the @cinereelists podcast for the use of the idea, the guys rank the last ten films they've seen from worst to best, and let you know when they cross the line from poor to recommended movies.
#PodernFamily promos spun in this episode are for Now That I'm Older @ImOlderPC and the great Moviesaurus Rex podcast @MRexPodcast.
