In the final Wayneless Episode (Virtual Wayne not withstanding), Paul is joined by two good friends from https://www.podfixnetwork.com/ Namely, Fuzzy Dan from the Who Spiked The Puns podcast at http://whospikedthepuns.com/ and Dudi Deutrom from Shaken Not Nerd at https://omny.fm/shows/shaken-not-nerd
To kick things off Fuzzy, Dudi and Paul review the newest Dwayne Johnson "blockbuster", Rampage, which re-teams the star with the director of San Andreas. Two of the hosts go a little savage on the film, while the third defends it grimly as "popcorn" entertainment.
Then it's time to see just how often the hosts between them can "Pull a Dudi" (which is basically when you haven't seen a film which everyone would expect you have. ie. nowhere near as rude as you might have initially thought) as the guys countdown their Top 10 Film Antiheroes. Who has trouble sticking to film as a medium? Who righteously loves it when someone else hasn't seen one of their entries? And who tries to shoehorn in reference to a film not yet made? (Protip: The answer to all of these questions is Dudi.)
Please thank Dan and Dudi for filling in for Wayne by checking out their excellent shows, and tell 'em The Countdown sent you!
Time Stamps:
Recount: 2:32 – 8:25
Rampage NON-SPOILER Review: 9:12 – 17:18

Episode 159: Top 10 Films of the South / A Quiet Place
Tuesday Apr 17, 2018
Tuesday Apr 17, 2018
This week, Paul invites two southern gentlemen in the form of Wes from the Via VHS podcast and John from the Now in Technicolor podcast to guest on the show. Given they hail from North Carolina and Tennessee respectively, it was agreed there could be no finer Countdown than the Top 10 Films of the American South!
Of course, defining what is the American South becomes an issue as even the Americans can't quite agree, before Disney gets lauded and criticised for how it behaved in the 1940s, Paul loses all credibility for launching into a tirade against Forrest Gump, and one of the hosts pulls a great big honking surprise out of his very deep bag for his number one #MenCanLikeChickFlicksToo
All this and the guys review the new film John Krasinski, the very well received A Quiet Place. Which of the hosts seems a bit nonplussed by all the fuss? You might be surprised ...
Please thanks Wes and John for covering for Wayne (who will be back for Ep 161 #200ForWayne) by checking out their respective shows at https://viavhs.podiant.co/ and http://nowintechnicolorpod.podomatic.com/

This week Paul decides to have some fun by returning to an old topic which has long since disappeared from the server with the Top 10 Movie Fights (or, somewhat more generally, Conflicts). And in keeping with the spirit of the topic he decided to recruit two guest hosts who are renowned through the PodFix Network for their polar opposite views on most things movie-related. So, here's an appropriate intro to both "competitors" ...
In the red corner, out of New York State, weighing in at 140-odd episodes, it's the man who puts the hate into Haterade, the Count of Criticism, Epic Film Guy Nick Haskins!
And up against him in the blue corner, straight out of the 'burbs of Los Angeles, weighing in at 300 plus episodes, it's the Paragon of Positivity, the Emperor of Enthusiasm, So I Married a Movie Geek's Justin Winters!
These two fierce competitors are not about to let their opponent get the better of them as they offer their wildly disparate views on various films. And with not one but TWO Soundboards in play through this Ep, things are sure to get a touch out of hand ...
So, without any further delays, let's get ready to banter!
Please thanks Nick and Justin for covering for Wayne (who is doing well btw #200ForWayne) by checking out their respective shows at http://www.epicfilmguys.com/ and https://soimarriedamoviegeek.podbean.com/
Time Stamps:
Recount: 3:22 - 6:48
Top 10 Movie Fights/Conflicts: 7:35 - 1:28:50
Listener Feedback: 1:28:50 - 1:37:33

With Wayne out of hospital and commencing his recovery, Paul is this week joined by Gidgit VonLaRue from The Retro Cinema podcast. Gidgit's show is focused on '80s films so there was no better person to have on to discuss the nostalgia heavy, Steven Spielberg blockbuster release, Ready Player One. Gidgit does a great job of channeling the positivity of Wayne, but does Paul jump on the same hype train? Or is #Negatron back with a vengeance?
Then Gidgit and Paul get down to unearthing some hidden gems from the '80s - films that most have forgotten, or were criminally underrated and not received the love they deserve. Both lists feature some incredibly deep cuts, so be prepared to add to your watchlist by the end of this one.
And in a Countdown first, The Soundboard this week features when a guest is also on the show! Though, fear not, The Soundboard apparently saves its worst trolling for Wayne ...
Please let Gidgit know how much you enjoyed her appearance on twitter @GidgitVonLaRue and check out her great show at http://theretrocinema.com/
Time Stamps:
Recount: 2:40 – 9:42
Ready Player One NON-SPOILER Review: 10:16 – 17:31

Top 10 Hidden Gems of the 80s: 28:08 – 1:09:49
Listener Feedback: 1:09:49 – 1:17:46
And just to sell the Retro Cinema's sweet, sweet Kool Aid a little harder, they're the first promo this week! Then there's a promo for an important charity event as organised by the show's bestest podcasting buds, the Epic Film Guys, with their Livestream for a Cure at https://cancerresearch.org/join-the-cause/fundraise/livestream-for-the-cure-20
