The Countdown

Cutting it fine for this month's Bonus Ep, but it was good friend and podcasting pal, Gerald from Two Peas on a Podcast to the rescue, and he brought his horror A-game. Because he's diving back into Wayne's least favourite genre at Paul's behest, and this time it's all about the golden age of horror, with the Top 10 Horror Films from the 1980s!

It's all here: slashers, demons, monsters, aliens and zombies. But which film will reign supreme from this classic decade of horror cinema?

EDCs. Know what they are? Paul certainly doesn't, even if they're something Wayne fantasises about on the reg, meaning this week's topic - the Top 10 Coolest Movie Gadgets - is right up his alley

Join the boys as they geek out over geeky tech which is so cool it makes Wayne want to soil his drawers. Paul, meanwhile, is just happy SOME of Wayne's choices aren't James Bond related.

You can find out exactly how many as The Countdown continues ...

February strikes again with the release of a film so terrible, the guys were forced to add a second review to the mix to strike some kind of balance. So it is that Paul briefly talks about the new Hazza Ford film, The Call of the Wild, based on the classic Jack London novel, before both the guys tear Blumhouse's Fantasy Island a new one

Jason Blum and Jeff Wadlow (the team behind the abysmal Truth or Dare) this time present a weird horror version of the 1970s TV show, and surprise surprise, it is a truly terrible experience.

Can the guys make head or tall of one of the most ridiculous scripts in recent Hollywood history? How does Paul's love/hate relationship with Blumhouse Pictures fare after sitting through this one? And who rates this largely according to the attraction he has to one of the characters?

This week, Paul and Wayne move to the head of their army of opinions and give rousing speeches as they go to war over the Top 10 Movie Battle Scenes of all time!

Be they middle ages or fantasy fueled battles with swords and halberds, or more modern, gun-filled and bomb-based affairs, the boys leave nothing on the field as they debate which battle scenes deserve to make this list.

Which host was too upset by what happens to horses to include the Battle of Stirling Bridge on his list? And has Wayne learned his lesson when it comes to Saving Private Ryan?

The answers to all these questions and more (including who won this year's Oscars bet) await you as The Countdown continues ...

The first superhero movie of 2020 is here, but it is a DCEU one, so don't get too excited :P

Join Wayne and Paul as they prey on the birds (and one Harley Quinn) with their in-depth review. Are the public staying away in droves because the film is that bad? Or do the critics have the right of it with their surprisingly high scores (for a DCEU film)?

Something different this week as Wayne and Paul countdown what they've learned from fight scenes in movies! Working very much like their Dating Ep from a few months back, this one mines some very fertile ground as the boys, with their tongues planted firmly in their cheeks, take aim at some of the more ridiculous aspects of film fight scenes...

Well, they can't all be winners ...

For every ying there is a yang, and in the case of films about war, for every 1917 there is a Midway. This atrocious attempt at a WWII film carries the dubious honour of being the most expensive independent film ever made, but all the money in the world couldn't save this script, nor the performances provided by most within it. So let Paul and Wayne be your canaries in cages and save you from seeing the awfulness of this Roland Emmerich (unintentional) disaster (film), as The Countdown continues ...

With the Academy Awards just around the corner, the guys decided to mark the occasion in their own way, firstly by giving their red-hot predictions for a bunch of the main categories, and then by chastising the Academy with a Countdown of the very best actresses and actors who have never won an Oscar!

Things remain mostly agreeable but after a week away Paul is amazed by the breakdown in communication between he and Wayne over what Oscar categories would be covered (stick around for the bloopers for the full story), and that amazement only turns to horror when Wayne reveals his number one most snubbed actor ...

Does Wayne make a case for T to the C? And does he find an actor to man-crush on harder than him by the end of this Ep? Meanwhile, does Paul finally manage to pronounce Joaquin Phoenix correctly?

Learn the answers to all these questions and more, as The Countdown continues ...

With Paul away, it's time to return to the Patreon vault for a classic review! And this time around, the boys have chosen to share with you their thoughts on Guillermo del Toro's stab at the Blade franchise, Blade II from 2002. Though previously only available to Patreons of the show, this one was part of the recent #PatreonPalooza in which the guys thanked all their Patrons with new content released daily for a week - so please forgive the odd opening here.

Does the film stand the test of time, or will the guys put a stake right through the heart of this series before Blade Trinity effectively achieves the same a couple of years later? Find out as The Countdown continues ...

Please be aware there are SPOILERS THROUGHOUT this review.

It's no longer Halloween, so it's definitely not the horror season - but Wayne remains not so mysteriously MIA. So for this month's Bonus Ep of the show, Paul has again recruited Sam from the Movie Reviews in 20 Q's Podcast to countdown the Worst 10 Horror Films of the 2010s!

Sam, as long term listeners will know, is a bona fide horror film fan, so he joins a somewhat sick sounding Paul to put the very worst horror films from the last decade on blast! The guys keep it to films that were either cinematically released or had a big enough budget to be of that calibre, so there's no picking on the small-fry indie filmmakers of the world here. No, these are the absolute worst of the worst; the films that not only failed to scare, but also fell short of being entertaining in any way beyond unintentionally despite the big name producers behind them.

Why not check out Sam and his fantastic show by way of thanks at https://mritqs.podbean.com/ and then kick it back here as The Countdown continues ...
