And make no mistake, a love-fest this review is. Nolan Fans apply; Nolan detractors steer-clear, because Wayne and Paul are not afraid to shout their love for this film while falling backward off a bridge as a hotel hallway they're in spins, all while they simultaneously engage in a some breathtaking gun play in and around a remote, snow-covered base.

This week the guys celebrate the very best (or worst depending on your point of view) villain comeuppances in film. Those scenes in which the most terrible or awful of villains finally get what's coming to them - be it something permanent tattooed on their body, a sincere scaring which will set them straight, or being torn to pieces in a zombie attack. 

 

Yes, these are the fist pumping, "Yessss!" moments that the guys have had when watching a villain fall. Though Wayne may be "Yessss!"ing just a little harder than Paul, based on how vindictive and, frankly, disturbing his list becomes.

Dan is generally a hard man to please, so just to hear him talk about ten films without referring to them as fine is amazing all on its own, while Paul is getting increasingly heady about his choices as he moves higher through his list. In this edition of The Countdown, the guys are honing in on those heroes (or protagonists) who aren't all they're cracked up to be. In fact, rather than be paragons of virtue and inspiration, these stuck up, smarmy, jack-asses are at best contemptible and at worst reprehensible. In other words, they're among the Top 10 Hateable Heroes in film.

 

Listen in as Wayne returns to his roots to stretch the brief beyond what was ever discussed, while Paul can't get a quote from one of his favourite movies correct, while the guys argue what said quote means. And in between all this, there's the usual banter, shrill laughter, and as Jason from the Binge Movies Podcast puts it, "deeply problematic humour"!
