Who'd have thought obscure references to Spaceballs would be far more amusing than this film? Or that the guys would fondly remember Dark Phoenix or X-Men: Apocalypse, but that's where Paul and Wayne find themselves, as The Countdown sputters ... but continues ...

The MCU has changed the way most of the world looks at the superhero genre, but it wasn't always plain sailing for the heroines and heroes out of Marvel and DC. In fact, for the longest time, a decent film featuring a superhero was the exception, not the norm.

 

So this week Paul and Wayne are putting the podcast blowtorch to the absolute dreck which found its way into our cinemas and onto our TV screens through the "wasteland decades" for comic book adaptations (aka pre 2008). Yes, it's time for another worst of episode in the form of the Worst 10 Superhero Movies ever made!

 

Can Wayne bring himself to put a Batman film on this list? And will Paul continue his one-man vendetta against Superman Returns?

This week the boys review their first (and let's face it, probably ONLY) Christmas film for the season, Fatman. This oddity stars Mel Gibson as a gritty Santa, and Walton Goggins as a hitman who is hired to take him out. Hilarity and gun-play ensue! ... Eventually.

 

One of the guys loves this weird film from the Nelms Brothers, while the other finds it lacking in many departments, especially compared to their previous film, Small Town Crime.

The countdown of Paul's favourite films of all time is back! This time he is joined from the man across the ditch, and one of the best Kiwis going round, Sam from the Movie Reviews in 20 Q's Podcast.  Sam opted to discuss his 70th to 61st favourite films ever made, thinking he could have a giggle about Number 69, but in actual fact, making it extremely hard to order his lists ... 

 

Will this be the first time there is a crossover of the same movie with the ten films discussed? And can Sam a few extra copies of his brand new novel, Compliance by doing this guest gig? This week the guys go to town on some lazy efforts from your favourite actors and actresses. From stars of the 70s all the way through to modern day cinema, no one is spared as Paul & Wayne take aim at the very laziest of performances where the persons in question were clearly just wanting to collect a pay cheque as if it was 3:30pm on a Friday afternoon and they were done for the week.

 

Thrill as the lads reveal some very similar choices late in their lists; gasp as Wayne doesn't react to shade being thrown at Batman; and marvel at Paul's impeccable Michael Caine impression...

Paul and Wayne's lists have changed drastically in three or so years, while Jason goes full film nerd, and in the process, becomes transfixed by Wayne's charm and charisma, making Paul into an awkward third wheel ...
