This week the boys begin their wrap up of the awful year that was 2020 by taking a look at the one medium which seemed to be untouched by the terribleness that took hold of the world: Television! Both Wayne and Paul agree this year was a great one for the small screen, and spend far longer discussing their best of the year than they do taking aim at their worst. In fact, their lists are oddly similar for this Ep, but fear not, Wayne's old mate The Soundboard isn't taking it easy on him just because it's his birthday, especially since he seems determined to pick seasons of shows from before 2020 to talk about ...

 

Which Netflix premiere series did both guys think was more melodrama than the genre outing it was meant to be? Which AppleTV show surprised the pants off of them both? And which second season will reign supreme: The Mandalorian or The Boys?

The world is about to be subjected to another MIlla Jovovich and Paul W.S. Anderson collab based on a video game, as apparently no-one has learned anything from the Resident Evil series. This time around they're tackling Monster Hunter, and Paul and Wayne had a chance to catch it early thanks to Sony Pictures.

 

Is it worth seeing at the theatre? Is Milla believable as the Captain of a group of Army Rangers? And is Ron Perlman's wig the worst in cinema history?

Shock horror! It really must be the end of days, because Wayne made time in his hectic schedule to appear on the monthly bonus Ep! But then how could he not, when the topic is to react to all the big trailers (and some tidbits of news) that came out of Disney's recent Investors Day.

 

So the boys watch all the big trailers and give their gut reactions (listen to Paul struggle) while bantering about all that will (hopefully) be coming our way in 2021, either on Disney+ or in theatres.

It's time for another Top 10 Last 10, as the guys countdown 10 of the most recent films they've seen, ranking them from worst to best and mini-reviewing each along the way

 

Some of the films that are covered include Let Him Go, His House, Buddy Games, Love and Monsters, Possessor, Greenland and Honest Thief.

 

This one was intended as a big send off to the crapness that was 2020, and so it only seems appropriate that it contains perhaps the most Wayne moment that has ever Wayned. Will you ever tune in to the show again after this one, dear listener? Find out as The Countdown continues ...

It's Oscar preview time on The Countdown, as the guys review the closest thing they're likely to get to the upcoming Academy Awards with Mank. This David Fincher film was written by his late father some 30 years ago and tries to be period accurate in depicting Herman J Mankiewicz as he writes the screenplay to one of the most famous films of all time, Citizen Kane.

 

But is it any good, or is it a whole pile of Hollywood self-grandiosing w*nk?

This week the guys are playing fast and loose with their lists as they countdown the Top 10 One-Hit Wonder Actors

 

Having agreed on no parameters, this one goes off the rails fairly quickly, especially when Wayne realises counting down to one is harder this week than most (and stick around until the end of the Ep to find out just how hard).

 

Plus, Wayne wins something for the very first time, Paul threatens to break into song, and both hosts agree the Stars Wars series has a lot to answer for in terms of killing careers.
