The boys get along to an early screening (by current Australian standards) of Olivia Wilde's sophomore film, Don't Worry Darling, which is already infamous for the purported behind the scenes shenanigans that took place. The question is will that infamy outlive the film itself?

 

But hold onto your hats, good listener. Because just when you think this is going to be a straight forward review, Wayne comes along with such a Wayne-take, you'll be shaking your head in dumbfounded appreciation. Or maybe horror. One of the two.

Amazon has gambled on Tolkien's vision creating a better than 1 BILLION dollar return on five seasons of a new Lord of the Rings show. So do the first three episodes bode well for such an investment?

House of the Dragon review

So, once upon a time, there was this great new show called Game of Thrones. It started small, but quickly developed a mass following as it swept all before it with its amazing story-telling, impressive world-building, and surprising character fates.

 

But GoT eventually fell prey to the greedy machinations of its creators, and its last season sucked harder than the vacuum of space, so when a spin-off, prequel series was announced, the fans were dubious.

 

As a result, Paul and Wayne have bravely stepped into the maw of the dragon to review the first three episodes of this series chronicling the war among House Targaryen, and invite you to join them in deciding whether no Benioff and Weiss means a good show can be resurrected?

Three Thousand Years of Longing review

Week 2 of Idris Elba Fortnight on The Countdown, sees Paul and Wayne checking out the George Miller film, Three Thousand Years of Longing.

 

Just about no-one has seen this film about a Djinn in a bottle and the Narantologist who finds him, so this may be the least downloaded review in the history of the show. But, damnit, we committed to more of Idris Elba - even though he doesn't rap in this film either - so we're sticking to that commitment, and maybe, just maybe, it will be a patch on Miller's last film, Mad Max: Fury Road.

 

But this one is a very different beast from that film and even last week's show? (Ha!) So is it worth a watch? Find out as The Countdown continues ...

They straight away make the controversial decision to jettison Yoda from their lists as the all too obvious Number One, but in a show with a large amount of crossovers, should they have consulted more heavily before starting to record? It's Idris Elba fortnight here on the Countdown, and the first of the two releases he stars in that Paul and Wayne are covering is the latest human vs nature film, Beast.
