Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny review

The fifth and final Indiana Jones film is here with Harrison Ford recently decreeing: "When I go, so does Indy."

 

Of course Paul and Wayne were beyond keen to see Harrison don the Fedora and crack the bull whip while growling at everyone who should care that 'It belongs in a museum!", but does that mean the film is any good?

 

The early reviews were not kind, but will the lads find more to enjoy in this Indiana Jones adventure? There's only one way to find out, and that's to dial in your destiny with the latest episode of The Countdown podcast!

This week the boys are counting down ten of the most recent films they've seen, from worst to best, as their latest Top 10 Last 10.

 

For once, Paul has made some poor decisions regarding what to press play on, while Wayne talks up having made similar bad calls, but it is soon revealed he is telling a porky pie as he seems to enjoy almost all of his films - which, at least in the case of Ghosted, is a HECK of a call.

 

Will every film on Wayne's list generate two to three laughs? Can Paul not have a horror film in his top five? The answers may shock you!

Who would have thought that the sequel to a surprise Netflic hit starring Aussie Chris Hemsworth would be the film to break the podcast?!

 

But here we are as Wayne and Paul go to war over the merits (or lack thereof) of Extraction 2, with Wayne boldly making the claim it is a better action film than John Wick 4. Paul, of course, does not take this lying down, and mayhem ensues ...

Top 10 Asian Films

Why break down the best ten films from individual countries on a whole continent when you can group them all together and kill many birds with one stone?

 

That may be Wayne's thinking when it comes to talking the Top 10 Asian Films, or it could be he just hasn't seen enough films from this region of the world. Either way, Paul is frustrated by the number of fantastic films he's had to edit off this list.

 

But fear not, all is forgiven when International Action Star - or is that Hero? - Chow Yun Fat enters the fray and the boys can geek out over some of the incredible action films the continent (lol) of Asia has gifted us.

The Flash review

Wayne loves Batman. Especially the Michael Keaton Batman. So The Flash was on his most anticipated films of the year list.

 

Paul had middling to no expectations whatsoever for the beginning of the end of the DCEU as we know it.

 

Who will be disappointed and who will be impressed? Can Any Muscietti and co deliver a great film that will have the fans baying for more of the current Snyderverse? Or is this the final nail in what is turning out to be a very, very long coffin for the DECU?

Top 10 Rock Songs of the 90s

Paul and Wayne are getting up there in years on this earth, so they don't mind admitting that the '90s was their heyday for most things - including, in Wayne's case, his hair.

 

So it is that there's a special kind of excitement that comes along with a 90s themed countdown, as the boys get to relive aspects of their youth and take the p1ss out of each other in the ways they did some thirty years previously.

 

This week's topic, then, is one which is a little close to Paul's heart, as the boys list their Top 10 Rock Songs of the 90s. Not surprisingly, two completely different lists are produced, but there's a special link between the two number ones which no-one could have ever seen coming :D

Four and a half years on from the original, Miles Morales swings back into theatres with one of the most anticipated films of the year (at least as far as The Countdown is concerned), Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

 

Can this one possibly re-capture the magic of Into the Spider-Verse and even be half as good? Will Wayne's inner artist be gorged on all that is on display here? And can Paul possibly be satisfied by his most anticipated film of the year?
