Episode 85: Top 10 Last 10 / Arrival (w/ Christian)
Tuesday Nov 15, 2016
Tuesday Nov 15, 2016

Were you left hurting, aggrieved, traumatised or betrayed after hearing Wayne's Top 10 War Films list last week? The boys were concerned that might be the case so they sought to apply a salve to those wounds by opting for a much nicer Episode format this week: namely, the Top 10 Last 10 show, as pioneered by the @cinereelists podcast. And as an added bonus, the boys invited previous guest host, Christian, to return and weigh in with his ranking from worst to best of the last 10 films he has seen. Which means, as an added bonus, you'll get to learn just how many of those films a father of a new baby is able to get through in one sitting...
Wayne and Paul also review the new sci-fi drama, Arrival, and opinions (just for a change) differ wildly! While those feeling hurt after last week will get a chance at vengeance with the Recount segment, as Wayne finds himself the target of some very amusing feedback.

Episode 84: Top 10 War Movies / Hacksaw Ridge
Monday Nov 07, 2016
Monday Nov 07, 2016

Check your weapons, lace up your combat boots, slap your fellow soldier on the shoulder and get ready for this week's Countdown! Since just in time for Remembrance Day, Paul and Wayne are turning their attention to the best War films of all time. Which is to say, those films that best encapsulate the sacrifice and loyalty the brave and women of the armed forces demonstrate when fighting for their countries. Well, that's what Paul does. Wayne, while off with the fairies, counts down a list that defies both description and belief. Meaning you'll just have to listen to learn how far off the rails he has gone this time...
The guys also review Mel Gibson's return to the directorial chair (as he desperately attempts to atone for his past sins) with the impressive Hacksaw Ridge. Wayne has more problems with the film than Paul, but what surprises are in store when the boys give their final scores?
Then there's the usual Recount, Check it Out and listener feedback segments, before a blooper reel of epic length rounds out the show.

Episode 83: Top 10 Strange Movies / Doctor Strange
Tuesday Nov 01, 2016
Tuesday Nov 01, 2016

For once, Australia scored an early release of a major studio film, and so Paul and Wayne gleefully shot off to see Doctor Strange, the newest Phase 3 film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Opinions are oddly synonymous this week, but is this Doctor worth making an appointment with?
Then after the latest round of the Countdown's ongoing gaming segment, Tag Lines, the guys get down to trying to out-weird one another with their Countdown of the strangest films ever made. And though there may be less arguing than normal, be reassured there are many choices involving inappropriate relations with all manor of non-human things...

Tuesday Oct 25, 2016

In this week's Ep, Wayne gets his way and the boys review the latest Tom Cruise vehicle, Jack Reacher: Never Go Back. Paul naturally wondered if anyone else in the entire world wanted to see more of Jack Reacher, prompting this week's Countdown of Sequels No-One Wanted (Except Maybe Wayne).
And though both guys agree on how "good" Jack Reacher 2 is, things get off to a rocky start during the Countdown with Wayne going straight for the jugular and Paul predictably biting ...
BTW this Ep was recorded straight after the latest crossover with the @EpicFilmGuys for their 69th episode all about John Carpenter. (Which means Wayne is impatient and Paul has had an extra drink ... or three.) So check this fantastic show out at https://itunes.apple.com/au/podcast/epic-film-guys-podcast/id1027239734?mt=2

Lock your doors, bolt your windows, and let Paul and Wayne be your comforting companions as they this week go for the kill in their differing opinions of The Girl on the Train.

The news-based segment Check it Out makes a return, and then the guys unveil a brand new segment - complete with an opener that is sure to offend!

They also like the cut of Alejandro's jib, and so invite him to return as guest host lest he be mistaken for a landlubber!

Episode 79: Top 10 Denzel Films / The Magnificent Seven
Tuesday Oct 04, 2016
Tuesday Oct 04, 2016

This week Paul and Wayne get down with Denzel Washington, as they celebrate this incredible actor and his enduring career.
Well that was the plan, anyway. Things start to go awry when of the guys HATES on Antoine Fuqua's remake of The Magnificent Seven. Of course, the other host finds a great deal to enjoy in this classic tale, leading to quite the vehement argument.
As if that's not bad enough, Wayne then goes completely off the rails as he starts his countdown of the best Denzel Washington films with one of the most dubious choices in the show's history. To Paul's abject horror, he then changes his list on the fly, throwing the integrity of the Countdown into complete disarray! Can Paul accept this ridiculous jettisoning of the rules? Or has Wayne doomed the show to all manner of dodgy, on-the-fly moves forever more? Find out as The Countdown continues ...

Tuesday Sep 27, 2016

This week Paul and Wayne take a look back at the 2016 Summer movie season in the U.S. (which is, of course, winter for those of us in Australia). Sensing the task should therefore involve someone from the Northern Hemisphere, the boys invited Rock Mancrush from the Poop Culture Podcast to guest host. Rick, Wayne and Paul rate their worst three AND top three releases from the summer period, and give their overall thoughts on this year's blockbuster season. Did anything topple Captain America: Civil War? Did Batman v Superman make any list? Who rated Suicide Squad as one of the season's best? And is there anything worse than Independence Day: Resurgence? Find all the answers to these questions - as well as segments Check It Out and Tag Lines - in this week's BIG episode of The Countdown! Episode 77: Top 10 Cameos
Monday Sep 19, 2016
Monday Sep 19, 2016

Actors are the focus of this week's Ep - specifically, smaller roles that are played for major effect, often featuring big name actors. That's right, this week, Paul and Wayne name their Top 10 Cameos across all genres of film.
But first they kick things off with the return of the Rewind, Be Kind segment as they review Luc Besson's Leon The Professional (1994). And yet, somehow, the boys managed to watch different versions of the film, resulting in an interesting discussion ...

Episode 76: Top 10 Last 10
Tuesday Sep 13, 2016
Tuesday Sep 13, 2016

This week's Episode marks the return of a fan favourite format, the Top 10 Last 10 Countdown. If you're unfamiliar, Paul and Wayne go back and forth counting down the last ten films they've viewed (though not previously covered on the show), starting with the worst and ending with the best. On this occasion, 19 films get a mini-review, and both Paul and Wayne have managed to see MOSTLY good films! (Will wonders never cease?!) There’s also a generous number of listener contributions to inform you further about what is and is NOT worth seeing out there … And let’s not forget new segment, Tag Lines, as Wayne desperately tries to hold onto his lead over Paul, knowing that the loser will have to do an Episode of the winner's choosing in the New Year ...
