Episode 89: Top 10 Feel Good Films (w/ Janelle)
Monday Dec 12, 2016
Monday Dec 12, 2016

Having overloaded on testosterone, the boys this week invite back guest host of the Top 10 Chick Flicks episode, Janelle, to assist them in another slightly less manly topic: the Top 10 Feel Good Films. Janelle does her level best to bring some order to the bickering between Paul and Wayne, but alas, Paul had to make a questionable (read: controversial) choice, and from that point, Wayne is on the war path (read: relieved he’s not in the firing line for a change). There’s also the usual listener feedback on the topic, the Recount segment with Wayne still copping heat for some recent decisions, and some major news about some upcoming releases in Check It Out. Big thanks to everyone who reviewed the show over the last week, as at the time of recording, only one more review was required to get Wayne to finally watch The Godfather. The great news is since recording that review was submitted, so keep them coming as now Wayne is only two from also watching The Godfather Part 2, and five more from having to round out the series with The Godfather Part 3. You can find the show on iTunes @ https://itunes.apple.com/au/podcast/countdown-movie-tv-reviews/id979577413?mt=2 #PodernFamily promos played this week are for Emily and her informative podcast, The Story Behind @StoryBehindPod, and the Go Watch a Movie podcast @Gowatchamovie And there's also a promo for our US brothers, the Epic Film Guys, who continue to kick all kinds of ass, so check them out at https://itunes.apple.com/au/podcast/epic-film-guys-podcast/id1027239734?mt=2 If you’d like to give Wayne and Paul some feedback or have your lists featured on a future episode, sound off on Twitter @thecountdownpc, on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/thecountdownpc or fire off a good ol' fashioned email to thecountdownpodcast@gmail.com And while you’re busy interacting with the guys, why not grab yourself a Countdown Tee for Christmas to wow your family and friends! Episode 88: Top 10 Fantasy Films / Underworld: Blood Wars / Allied
Monday Dec 05, 2016
Monday Dec 05, 2016

This week crack out your wands, sharpen those double-handed broadswords, and get ready to ride a dragon or three, because the guys are counting down their best ever fantasy films! With nary an AD&D reference, Paul and Wayne manage to pinpoint a working definition of a fantasy film before launching into their lists - and for a time it looks like all the controversy will be limited to Wayne's #10. But oh no. Wait until you hear what he has in store as his all time favourite fantasy film. And don't forget to let the guys know what you think of his choice...
There's also two new release reviews for this week, with the Robert Zemeckis film Allied and the fifth in the Underworld series, Underworld: Blood Wars both being put through their paces. And, well, one of them is bad enough for #Negatron to finally get his own theme (It shouldn't be hard to guess which one!)
And finally, as per the discussion in this Episode, leave us a positive rating on iTunes to MAKE WAYNE WATCH THE GODFATHER SERIES! Help Paul right a huge wrong by submitting a rating (and review if you have the time), and once five more have been collected, Wayne has to watch The Godfather. Seven and he's also in for The Godfather 2. Hell, let's get 10 and make him sit through The Godfather 3 as well - that'll learn him! You can find the show on iTunes @ https://itunes.apple.com/au/podcast/countdown-movie-tv-reviews/id979577413?mt=2

Episode 87: The Best & Worst of TV in 2016
Monday Nov 28, 2016
Monday Nov 28, 2016

This week – much to Wayne’s delight – the guys get their TV on as they look back at 2016 and count down their favourite FIVE shows of the year. And though there is at least one predictable cross-up, the numero unos may well surprise you … Well, Wayne’s might; Paul, once again, has his finger on the pulse and is maintaining the integrity of the show despite Wayne’s best efforts to destroy it with forgotten shows and late additions. (Editor’s Note: Paul writes these show notes, so take all that with a grain of salt.)
Then the boys get savage on some of the poorer series to have disgraced their screens, with Paul, in particular paying out on two shows for wasting so much of his time through the course of the year. There’s also news shared during the Check It Out segment and a boatload of listener feedback regarding recent controversies and the best of TV in 2016.
The guys need YOUR help. Please consider subscribing, rating and reviewing the show on iTunes @ https://itunes.apple.com/au/podcast/countdown-movie-tv-reviews/id979577413?mt=2

Episode 86: Top 10 Dark Comedies
Monday Nov 21, 2016
Monday Nov 21, 2016

This week, in an episode sans main review, the guys go dark as they Countdown the best films which dare you to laugh despite what is taking place on screen. That's right, it's the Top 10 dark comedies - and though things are largely pleasant and civilised, it wouldn't be a Countdown without Wayne making a controversial call and Paul calling him to task for it.
Beyond that, there's the return of the Cool for Cast segment as the boys recast a modern day remake of the 1997 action classic, Con Air. They then also play the latest installment of Tag Lines, and there's a bit more feedback for Wayne in reference to his Top 10 War films list a fortnight back.
The guys need YOUR help. Please consider subscribing, rating and reviewing the show on iTunes @ https://itunes.apple.com/au/podcast/countdown-movie-tv-reviews/id979577413?mt=2

Episode 85: Top 10 Last 10 / Arrival (w/ Christian)
Tuesday Nov 15, 2016
Tuesday Nov 15, 2016

Were you left hurting, aggrieved, traumatised or betrayed after hearing Wayne's Top 10 War Films list last week? The boys were concerned that might be the case so they sought to apply a salve to those wounds by opting for a much nicer Episode format this week: namely, the Top 10 Last 10 show, as pioneered by the @cinereelists podcast. And as an added bonus, the boys invited previous guest host, Christian, to return and weigh in with his ranking from worst to best of the last 10 films he has seen. Which means, as an added bonus, you'll get to learn just how many of those films a father of a new baby is able to get through in one sitting...
Wayne and Paul also review the new sci-fi drama, Arrival, and opinions (just for a change) differ wildly! While those feeling hurt after last week will get a chance at vengeance with the Recount segment, as Wayne finds himself the target of some very amusing feedback.
#PodernFamily promos spun this week are for those salty British guys @_masterdebaters and for the show's US brothers, the Epic Film Guys. Episode 84: Top 10 War Movies / Hacksaw Ridge
Monday Nov 07, 2016
Monday Nov 07, 2016

Check your weapons, lace up your combat boots, slap your fellow soldier on the shoulder and get ready for this week's Countdown! Since just in time for Remembrance Day, Paul and Wayne are turning their attention to the best War films of all time. Which is to say, those films that best encapsulate the sacrifice and loyalty the brave and women of the armed forces demonstrate when fighting for their countries. Well, that's what Paul does. Wayne, while off with the fairies, counts down a list that defies both description and belief. Meaning you'll just have to listen to learn how far off the rails he has gone this time...
The guys also review Mel Gibson's return to the directorial chair (as he desperately attempts to atone for his past sins) with the impressive Hacksaw Ridge. Wayne has more problems with the film than Paul, but what surprises are in store when the boys give their final scores?
Then there's the usual Recount, Check it Out and listener feedback segments, before a blooper reel of epic length rounds out the show.

Episode 83: Top 10 Strange Movies / Doctor Strange
Tuesday Nov 01, 2016
Tuesday Nov 01, 2016

For once, Australia scored an early release of a major studio film, and so Paul and Wayne gleefully shot off to see Doctor Strange, the newest Phase 3 film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Opinions are oddly synonymous this week, but is this Doctor worth making an appointment with?
Then after the latest round of the Countdown's ongoing gaming segment, Tag Lines, the guys get down to trying to out-weird one another with their Countdown of the strangest films ever made. And though there may be less arguing than normal, be reassured there are many choices involving inappropriate relations with all manor of non-human things...

Tuesday Oct 25, 2016
Tuesday Oct 25, 2016

In this week's Ep, Wayne gets his way and the boys review the latest Tom Cruise vehicle, Jack Reacher: Never Go Back. Paul naturally wondered if anyone else in the entire world wanted to see more of Jack Reacher, prompting this week's Countdown of Sequels No-One Wanted (Except Maybe Wayne).
And though both guys agree on how "good" Jack Reacher 2 is, things get off to a rocky start during the Countdown with Wayne going straight for the jugular and Paul predictably biting ...
BTW this Ep was recorded straight after the latest crossover with the @EpicFilmGuys for their 69th episode all about John Carpenter. (Which means Wayne is impatient and Paul has had an extra drink ... or three.) So check this fantastic show out at https://itunes.apple.com/au/podcast/epic-film-guys-podcast/id1027239734?mt=2

Lock your doors, bolt your windows, and let Paul and Wayne be your comforting companions as they this week go for the kill in their differing opinions of The Girl on the Train.
The conversation then gets darker still as the guys Countdown their best ten serial killer films. Wayne throws his usual dodgy pick into the mix, but who will be left feeling list envy by the end of the end of the Ep?
The news-based segment Check it Out makes a return, and then the guys unveil a brand new segment - complete with an opener that is sure to offend!

Tuesday Oct 11, 2016

Ahoy, me hearties! Batten down the hatches because this week's Episode allows you to shiver your timbers while getting three sheets to the wind, as Wayne and Paul set sail with a Countdown of the best films set on or around the high seas. They also like the cut of Alejandro's jib, and so invite him to return as guest host lest he be mistaken for a landlubber!
