Episode 106: Top 10 Animated Films / The LEGO Batman Movie / Chips
Tuesday Apr 11, 2017
Tuesday Apr 11, 2017

Sharpen those graphite pencils, fire up your computers, and crack out the crayons as this week Paul and Wayne finally tackle one of the most requested Countdowns: the best animated films of all time! Such an occasion demands something special, so the boys asked The Expert aka Alejandro to return and lend his animation expertise to this week's show.
All three also review the "newly" released LEGO Batman movie - "newly" for Australia, anyway, as Village Roadshow made the d1ck decision to leave it some seven weeks to release this film here, while the rest of the world saw it back in February.
Does the Caped Crusader's efforts live up to all that was promised in The LEGO movie? Has Wayne seen enough animated films to make a list of 10? And how many of them will be Batman films? Find out the answers to all these questions and more - including whether Wayne rated the new Chips adaptation - as The Countdown continues ...

Episode 105: Top 10 USA Did it Better Films / Ghost in the Shell
Tuesday Apr 04, 2017
Tuesday Apr 04, 2017

It's always interesting when the hosts of a list-based podcast start to bag out their own lists before even revealing them. Such is the case in this week's Ep as Paul and Wayne acknowledge they may have bitten off more they could chew in finding ten films the US remade better than the original foreign version.
And this is all off the back of reviewing the new version of Ghost in the Shell. Is Scarlett Johansson's casting as controversial as the internet would have everyone believe? Are the visuals (and not just Scar Jo's bodysuit) as impressive as the trailers would have most believe? And will anybody give two sh#ts by the end of the film? Tune in to find out, and rest assured that The Soundboard most definitely returns to continue tormenting Wayne ...

Episode 104: Top 10 End of the World Films / Power Rangers / Life
Tuesday Mar 28, 2017
Tuesday Mar 28, 2017

BIG news this week, as Paul and Wayne welcome a NEW member of The Countdown, and one they hope will be a mainstay on the show!
More seriously, the guys each present a film for review this week. Wayne takes a look at Life and has some positive things to say about it (beyond insisting the Des'ree song make an appearance in the Ep), while Paul falls short - okay, just short - of going full #Negatron on Power Rangers.
Then drawing on the one common theme between the two films, the boys countdown the best End of the World Films, and though there are a few shaky moments early as parameters are defined (and then discarded, as Jef from Cadaver Cast mocked during the week), it all ends fairly harmoniously and not at all nihilistically.

Episode 103: The Best & Worst 0f 1992 (w/ The Epic Film Guys)
Tuesday Mar 21, 2017
Tuesday Mar 21, 2017

Nick and Justin aka The Epic Film Guys are back for their third Countdown to this week to assist in a retrospective of the best and worst of film in 1992. It's the year Paul and Wayne graduated high school, while Nick and Justin were barely old enough to understand what film was, and yet an absolute blast was had by all ripping the worst of the year to shreds while celebrating some of the all time greatest films ever made. And, in a Countdown first, Whitney Houston makes more than one appearance as her spirit moves Nick in ways, well, you'll just have to listen to appreciate ...
So please thank our very special guests this week by rating, reviewing and subscribing to their show which you can find at http://epicfilmguys.podbean.com/ and on Twitter @EpicFilmGuys

Episode 102: Top 10 Bill Paxton Films / Logan / Kong: Skull Island
Tuesday Mar 14, 2017
Tuesday Mar 14, 2017

This week the guys officially become the 203rd millionth podcast to review Logan - the final turn for Hugh Jackman as the much-loved Wolverine - and only the fifth to bother reviewing Kong: Skull island #Negatron
But all that is just an appetiser to the main meal as Paul and Wayne commemorate the recent loss of show favourite actor, Bill Paxton, by dedicating a whole Countdown to him and his best films. Things remain relatively peaceful out of respect for the great man, until Wayne gets hot under the collar over what Paul has ranked his number one ...

Episode 101: Top 10 Sports Movies
Tuesday Mar 07, 2017
Tuesday Mar 07, 2017

This week, to avoid the comedown after Ep 100, the boys get busy counting down the very best sports films of all time! Can they bury the hatchet after all the shenanigans of the last Ep? Or will Wayne's lack of sports knowledge come back to haunt him as Paul flies the flag for harder core classic sports films? For that matter, will ANYone take Wayne's list seriously after he equates cheerleading to golf as a sport?
There's also a new Check it Out and some big promises for Countdown related developments to come ...

The 100th Episode Extravaganza!
Tuesday Feb 28, 2017
Tuesday Feb 28, 2017

In this week's milestone Ep, Paul and Wayne have put together a special celebration of everything that makes The Countdown what it is. Namely, lists, disagreements, cursing one another out, and most essentially, big laughs. In other words, they've put together a list of the Top 10 Countdown Controversies over the first 99 Eps.
This one therefore becomes a trip down memory lane as the guys replay a clip from the controversy in question and then check in as to whether one or the other is willing to change their viewpoint. This goes about as well as you might expect until a couple of late surprising developments that should please old school fans of the show.
The Ep is also remarkable for the incredible submissions we received from some amazing podcasters who also listen to the show. The boys asked for a roasting and a roasting they received! So please thank and give a listen to Mike Jolitz at the Mike Jolitz podcast, Dan Vadeboncoeur of the Media Nerds & Star Wards Nerds podcasts, Nick and Justin from the Epic Film Guys podcast, Justin from So I Married a Movie Geek podcast, Wesley from the Via VHS Podcast, Dylan from the Welcome to Planet Bob podcast, Chris from the More Gooder Than Podcast, Deana from the TwistedPhilly Podcast, Joe from the Quote Unquote Guilty Podcast, Dave from the Super Movie Brothers Podcast, and Shane from the Now That I'm Older Podcast. Oh and not to forget regular guest host Alejandro getting his two cents in. Whew!
And finally, the Cool for Cast segment makes a return, as the boys recast Quentin Tarantino's classic, Pulp Fiction (1994).

Episode 99: Top 10 Matt Damon Films / The Great Wall
Tuesday Feb 21, 2017
Tuesday Feb 21, 2017

For Episode 99, the guys go a little crazy for Matt Damon on the back of his new release (and the most expensive film ever made in China), The Great Wall. And it is just a "little" crazy, because Paul is channeling #Negatron during his review, while even Wayne acknowledges the worst of Matt Damon's best is not really all that great.
Then the boys are putting what reputations they have on the line as they make their predictions in seven categories for this year's Oscars, with the winner to add injury to insult by picking a show topic the other has to do sometime later in the year ...
There's also the usual banter, obscenities, bloopers and the overdue return of Check It Out, as the guys discuss the DCEU and the upcoming release of #Logan. And stick around to the end to find out how YOU can feature on the show's 100th Ep!

Episode 98: Top 10 Long Ass Films (w/ The Boxers Podcast)
Tuesday Feb 14, 2017
Tuesday Feb 14, 2017

This week Paul and Wayne invite Marcos and Wes from The Boxers Podcast to assist them in a HUGE countdown of the best long films ever made! The Boxers fit right in with mocking Wayne for many of his choices, while all get behind how awesome Christopher Nolan, Martin Scorsese and John Williams are. And rest assured, there are plenty of laughs had as this one winds down to one of the most questionable number one choices in The Countdown history - and it's not made by Wayne! *gasp* *shock* *horror*

Episode 97: Top 10 Last 10
Tuesday Feb 07, 2017
Tuesday Feb 07, 2017

Wayne and Paul this week return with a show favourite format - the Top 10 Last 10 (with thanks to James and Zach of http://cinereelists.com/). This is where the boys each provide mini-reviews of the last 10 films they've seen, hoping to steer you clear of the worst, while highly recommending the best. Of course, it wouldn't be an Ep of The Countdown without some degree of niggling, and Wayne again provides the fodder with his *ahem* "unique" ranking system ...
Paul also commits to a BIG challenge if the show can collect enough reviews, while Wayne confirms he will now be watching the whole Godfather trilogy with reviews of the latter two films to follow.
