Wayne has recovered from COVID (three cheers!), so the boys are back together with The Soundboard joining them to countdown the very best thrillers of the Noughties - aka 2000 to 2009.

 

For this Ep, the guys have decided to celebrate some over-looked or lesser- known thrillers rather than championing the same ten films you'd expect from each of them. Sure, there's still a couple of predictable titles in here, but otherwise, steel yourselves for some foreign language choices (from Paul) and one featuring Halle Berry topless (from Wayne).

Top 10 A24 Films

The old adage of the show must go on has never been more apt for The Countdown as Wayne pushes through COVID to highlight some of the finer indie films of the last decade or so in this celebration of the very best A24 studio films. 

 

Of course, the guys had to record this week's episode remotely due to Wayne's positive status, and that means the show is minus its third and most valued member, The Soundboard. Wayne, shockingly, thinks this is the highlight of his week, while Paul appropriately commemorates their fallen colleague and wishes it a speedy return.

 

Beyond that, there's plenty of indie films, some consternation, and a surprising amount of good-natured agreement (Wayne really must be sick!), as The Countdown continues ...

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness review

For the 28th time, the guys have headed out to the cinema - well, 27th, but no-one saw Thor: The Dark World on the big screen, did they? - to see an MCU film. On this occasion, Doctor Strange is back in a sequel and its directed by horror and superhero film maestro, Sam Raimi. But is it a happy mix?

 

Can the MCU lean into horror and not lose a solid portion of its audience? Will horror film fans accept this horror-lite entry? Also, does anything of consequence happen here? And is this a vastly inferior film to another one about the multiverse released by A24 only a few short weeks ago?

War on Seagal 1: Sniper Special Ops

There is unquestionably too much conflict and violence in this world. And as much as we hate to add to it, we feel we must now take the battle to the podcast’s greatest enemy. We're starting with Sniper: Special Ops from 2016 - a supposed war film in which Seagal barely gets off his butt through the entire run time.

This week the boys tackle the best of Disney Studio's more adult production arm, Touchstone Pictures.

 

Having been all but shut down in the early 2010s, this is a bit of a trip down Nostalgia Lane for both Paul and Wayne, as they relive the glory days of the action heavy '90s, throw in some solid comedies from a tad earlier, and even get a bit mysterious and spooky in the 2000s.

 

But wait, there's more! Paul is having to give away all of his DVDs and CDs, while Wayne is aghast at the latest piece of trivia regarding the show's mortal enemy, Steven Seagal.
