The Top 10 Rom-Coms of ALL TIME!

Wayne's ying to Paul's horror genre yang is the rom-com genre. So it's only fair after last week's show in which the boys ostensibly covered the best horror films of all time, that they would this week tackle rom-coms.

 

And like Paul did on last week's show, Wayne this time around covers the ten best hidden gem rom-coms he thinks should be more seen, while Paul splashes around in the shallow end of the rom-com pool hoping no-one will notice he's just picking every Edgar Wright film ever made.

 

Meanwhile, the boys weigh in on whether a heteronormative woman and man can be friends without wanting to boink, Wayne fails to note the year any film on his list was made, and Paul makes an offer to the aforementioned Edgar Wright that is probably too good to be refused.

Black Adam review

Paul and Wayne shout "Shazam!" this week, and when nothing happens, go on to review the new DC film, Black Adam, anyway.

 

Reportedly 15 years in the making - if by "making", you accept Dwayne The Rock Johnson wanting to play the titular character - how does this one fare against the rest of DC's output?

The Top 10 Horror Films of ALL TIME!

It's Halloween, so Paul once again manages to force a horror countdown topic on Wayne. And given the current iteration of the show is coming to an end after Episode 400, Paul figured Wayne should go hard or go home.

 

So it is that the boys are counting down their Top 10 Horror films of ALL TIME! Or, at least, Wayne is. Paul, meanwhile, purposefully goes off brief to appeal to "his people" (as Wayne calls them) - the horror film fans - by listing his ten favourite hidden horror gems instead. And in so doing, Paul issues a challenge to his people: has any single listener seen all ten of the film's on his list this week?

 

Not that it's all about Paul, because Wayne digs deep to come up with ten horror films which he thinks people like him - ie. NON-horror loving people - will still be able to enjoy and even love.

 

All of which means there's something for everyone this week on the show - be you a horror person or not - as The Countdown continues ...

Halloween Ends review

Michael Myers returns to terrorise the town of Haddonfield, Illinois, and it will be either the last time for him, or for Laurie Strode, the woman who has survived three of his separate rampages (in this timeline). Even if one of them was just by laying in a hospital bed.

 

Does David Gordon green bring this trilogy home with with an epic finale? Or is it a smear of excrement on celluloid which a 12 year old could not be proud of? Does Michael Myers terrify as he cuts a swathe toward Laurie? Or is he barely an after-thought in a confusing mess of a film which honours neither he, nor Laurie, or the spirit of one of the longest enduring horror film franchises in history?

Top 10 Parody/Spoof Films

For this week's show, Paul and Wayne don't bother to split the atom in counting down the very best films parodying another film or spoofing a wider genre. Which means it takes Wayne about 16 seconds to attack Paul for one of his choices. Having clearly switched roles for the week, Paul remains very zen is very able to roll with that blow, as well the next one, when Wayne queries ANOTHER of his choices.

 

It truly is bizarro world on this week's show, but then with just six further episodes left in the current movie and television format, you're going to have to expect a few curve balls along the way ...

War on Seagal 2: Against the Dark

The War on notorious Hollywood scumbag, Steven Seagal, returns as the boys take aim at 2009's supposed action-horror, Against the Dark.

 

In this one, Seagal wears a leather duster and carries a sword, leading a group of hunters as they battle against virus-created zombies/vampires/mutants (even the film doesn't know what they are), as they try to save a group of survivors from being trapped in the most well-defended hospital this side of Fort Knox. Except, it's not really that well-defended, since the infected are constantly roaming just round the corner. Ahh, this "film" *shakes head* ...

The final countdown to the final countdown of this iteration of the show, The Countdown - confused yet? - begins with the very best opening credits to any and all television series since the dawn of the box.

 

There's a good mix of classic and contemporary in the guys' lists this week, but that doesn't stop Paul from being bothered by at least one of Wayne's choices, and Wayne return firing at one of the greatest British sci-fi shows ever made.

 

So, yes, more bantering and bickering than you can poke a stock at, and this week without crappy accents! Why wouldn't you get involved?
