Here it is. The biggest Ep of the year detailing the very best films of the previous year requires an incredible guest. And that incredible guest is Jason from the Binge Movies Podcast. It also requires a lengthy discussion about the merits (or perhaps, lack thereof) of these films, making for one of the longest Eps in The Countdown's history.

Society of the Snow review

Netflix kicks off the New Year in the best possible way, at least according to Paul, with their release of the based-on-a-true-story, survival epic, Society of the Snow.

 

Wayne, for some inexplicable reason, does not like this type of film, which leads to the first disagreement on the show for 2024 and the provocative use of The Soundboard.

The boys, this week, complete their look back at television through 2023 with a countdown of their favourite shows of the year! It was a banner year for television as evidenced by both Paul and Wayne having ten shows and honourable mentions to talk about, making for a jam packed episode.

 

Wayne starts things off controversially and some might suggest his list never recovers, while Paul, meanwhile, stays pretty true to form - both in terms of his list and in keeping Wayne honest with some of his hot takes.

Rebel Moon Part 1 reiview

Zack Snyder returns to our screens with his rejected idea for Star Wars courtesy of Netflix. And since Zach Snyder is always going to Zach Snyder, Wayne and Paul have volunteered to determine whether this is one of the occasions when Zach should have Snydered, rather than Zaching his way into some very, very low critical reactions. 

 

Will Wayne appreciate the visual flair in Rebel Moon? Can Paul forgive the short-comings of its script? And, at the end of the day, is Disney - in the place of George Lucas - going to sue themselves a Zach?

It's Top 10 Last 10 time, as the boys look back on the latter parts of 2023 and mini-review 10 films each that are first time watches, but otherwise have no linking criterion. Of course, this is The Countdown, so:

 

- said films are ranked from worst to best

- Wayne says inappropriate things

- Paul Soundboards it up in response to said inappropriate things, while honouring the late, great Andre Braugher; and

- there is more French musketeer action than you can poke a sword at. (To be fair this one is not a usual staple of the show, but worth pointing out nonetheless.)
