The concept episode. Beloved by creators; dreaded by fans. The moment when a TV show decides to do something experimental and not at all in keeping with the norm. It's chance for all those involved with a show to stretch their wings, and maybe set up some back door options for spin-offs.

 

In a podcast's case, a concept episode usually means the hosts need a break from the norm or want to shake things up a bit. And like the TV shows we would often lament as wasting an episode on these crazy ideas, the podcast concept episode doesn't always work.
