Top 10 Action Movie Stars

Strap on your weapon belts, zip up your combat boots, and get ready with a few quippy one-liners, because this week the boys celebrating the biggest names in the action genre by counting down their favourite action movie stars

Woman or man from any era in film, Paul and Wayne make the tough choices on who deserves a place on this sacred (to them) list. And they start with a bold call, immediately ruling out Arnold Schwarzenegger to throw the lists wide open and challenge each other with their eventual number ones.

Who has Steven Seagal on his list, despite the show's storied history with the mumbling, self-proclaimed Akido master? Who ranks Jackie Chan lower than Iko Uwais? And whose list is estrogen free?

Find the answers to all these questions - and more (like is Chow Yun Fat an International Action STAR or International Action HERO?) - as The Countdown continues ...

It's well overdue - and hence dropping as a bonus Ep - but here are the boys' controversial thoughts about the latest film in the Fast and the Furious Universe (wow, even typing that feels ridiculous), Hobbs and Shaw. This was the second attempt at a review as the first one was so controversial, Audacity felt the need to burn the recording faster than an IMF mission briefing for Ethan Hunt. (Ahh, if only the Fast and the Furious franchise was a patch on the Mission Impossible films.)

So, if you're looking for a positive, glowing take on Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham back and forthing, look elsewhere. Because this one gets extremely negative - in spite of what most of the critics have had to say - as The Countdown makes good on its promise to give you REAL reviews. Come. What. May.

In short, it's an absolute bollocking for this spin off from the Fast and the Furious franchise, and even if only Tyrese Gibson would approve, the guys make no apologies ... as The Countdown continues ...

This week Australia has FINALLY gotten to see Quentin Tarantino's latest, so the guys have dusted off their Bob Dylan hats to compliment their sheepskin vests and corduroy pants, and, of course, have smoked a few Red Apples to get into the right frame of mind for this review

Is Once Upon a Time in Hollywood the least Tarantino film to ever Tarantino? Is 161 minutes too long for this type of film? And Does QT earn the ending he shoots for?

Can Wayne and Paul keep it together long enough to not snipe each others choices on their combined list? Or is this a disaster just waiting to happen?

This week the boys are going speculative on you as they consider all the rumours and stories about films which never hit the theatre screen. Those that sounded good on paper, sequels which people figured would happen after a successful original film, or projects which were so damn intriguing, everybody got a little flustered thinking about them. Except, fate intervened. Be it in the form of a studio that got cold feet, or the rights got disputed, or an actor pulled out, these are the films which never got made!

Paul and Wayne take you on a tour of what might have been, waxing lyrical about their romanticised ideas of what we all missed out on. How many Arnie films will make their lists? And which director has had his hand in screwing up more than one awesome sounding project? Find the answers to these questions and more as The Countdown continues ...

This week the boys move fast to the cinema to see Hobbs and Shaw but emerge furious with the results ... Oh. No they don't. That recording got destroyed by a random computer glitch.

So without time to re-record, they've instead gone into the vault and produced a previously Patreon-Only review for your listening pleasure: Quentin Tarantino's Inglorious Basterds. This was considered most relevant given his latest film, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is just now playing in theatres States-side, and is soon to be released here in Australia as well...

Apologies for the balls-up, but please enjoy this glimpse into what the Patrons are offered as The Countdown stalls a bit, but then continues ...

Top 10 Last 10

Welcome back, awesome listener, to another Top 10 Last 10 - a series of Episodes where the boys countdown ten films they've recently seen from worst to best, letting you know at what point they start recommending you check out what they've sat through. List-wise, Paul is reasonably pleased with his ten films, but Wayne has chosen poorly over the last few months and is ready to drop a dime on a whole bunch of films. (Though fear not, Paul has ample opportunity to rant on more than occasion).

Included in this week's show are two mini-reviews for the soon to be released Australian films, Danger Close: The Battle of Long Tan and Locusts.

So get on board with the latest cinematic journey hosted by Paul and Wayne, as The Countdown continues ...

The Lion King review

WARNING! There are SPOILERS throughout this review as it's the same damn story as the 1994 version!

It's been awhile since the guys went at one another over a review, and many of you prefer when the argy-bargy is a part of an episode. Well, good news, because this review is for you!

Paul and Wayne clash over the merits (or lack thereof) of Disney's "live"-action (read: largely CGI) adaptation of their animated classic, The Lion King.  Wayne thinks it is beautiful re-telling of the story with some great expansions, while Paul considers it a soulless cash-grab that runs indeterminably long for no conceivable reason. Can one convince the other they're wrong? Or will it all end with much Soundboard smashing, many very naughty words being hurled at one another, and frustration galore?
